In-home training is for owners who want hands-on experience training their dogs. Together, we can work through a wide variety of skills, in the environment your dog is the most comfortable in- their home! During these lessons, we will create a personalized plan to target your dog’s problem behaviors, no matter how simple or complex they might be. After each lesson, you receive a written summary and all homework required before the next session.
Questions in between lessons? No problem! Your trainer is just an email away.
Lessons are one hour.
A fantastic alternative to “doggie daycare.” Instead of being one dog in a group of twenty, your dog will be one of a maximum of three dogs. Dogs in this small group will match your dog’s size and temperament. After we pick up your dog from your home, your dog’s day will consist of a 1.5-2 hour hike, enrichment activities such as food puzzles and stuffed Kongs, and a minimum of two training sessions, all before being returned to your home at the end of the day.
You will receive photo and video updates throughout the day as well as a report card detailing your dog’s training and what to work on at home.
The first few weeks after your puppy comes home, will shape his or her temperament for years to come. Overwhelming, right? But it doesn’t have to be!
With the Puppy Start Right Program, no opportunity gets missed. Your puppy will spend Monday through Friday in the trainer’s home learning basic obedience foundations such as sit, lie down and come when called. The trainer will address crate training and house training, and your puppy will go on several “field trips” during the week to practice their new skills.
Your puppy will meet many new dogs and people throughout their stay and how to behave politely in public. After a fun-filled week they will then be returned to you on the weekends. It’s the best of both worlds!
This is NOT “boot camp”-style board and train. Your dog will spend their time in a home, living just as the trainer’s dogs do. This means daily nature hikes, multiple enrichment activities such as food puzzles and stuffed Kongs, and, of course, training! By learning in a home environment, you can expect that your dog’s behavior will transfer better when they come home than if they had spent time in a traditional kennel. You can expect daily video and photo updates to show how your pup is making progress, and you also get to see how your dog spends their days at Good Karma.
Only one dog at a time is accepted into the program to ensure that each dog gets the maximum amount of attention during their stay.
While your dog is in our care, you can expect that a rock solid foundation will be built for obedience skills. We will also install skills that help with any behavior problems that you might be experiencing. After their stay, we will teach you how to apply what they’ve learned to your own lifestyle and in your home. Once your dog is home, it will be up to you and your family to follow through and be consistent with the training in your own home. We are always just a phone call away for any necessary support.
Existing clients who have done private in-home training or a 14-day board and train are eligible for a la carte board and train days at $165 per day. Length of stay can be discussed with the trainer based on owner goals.
